Next Friday, October 21, I’ll be speaking about the fossil fuel divestment movement in Florence as part of Novo Modo, a three days event organized by Fondazione Culturale Responsabilità Etica on new ways (“novo modo”) we can re-align the global economy with social, environmental, ethical values and issues. At the meeting also representatives of Focsiv (Federation of Christian Organisations for the International Voluntary Service) and #DivestItaly will illustrate their views and experiences.
Focsiv is one of the Catholic institutions and communities from all over the world that on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, October 4, jointly announced their commitment to divest from fossil fuels. In that perspective, one of the most active organization is the Global Catholic Climate Movement, a network of over 400 Catholic organizations working to respond to climate change. Here below you can find the video of the “divest-reinvest” webinar the network held some weeks ago, moderated by Tomás Insua, Global Catholic Climate Movement Global Coordinator, to discuss on how Catholic and more in general faith communities can join the fossil free movement.
For those who are interested and have the chance to come, see you in Florence!
